Visual Identity

Why It’s Important

Why is visual identity important? That’s because it can influence your customers’ first impression of your brand. And, it can also leave a great aftertaste in the end.

That’s why you have to make sure that that first impression is a positive one. And, in order to make that happen, you need to first be certain that your brand is different enough from other brands.

Just like logo design, you want your visual identity to be unique, yet simple. Try to be different, but also recognizable.

Just because something is different, it doesn’t mean that it will stick with people and be easy to remember.

This is where you need to start thinking out of the box. Take a look at what your competition did. Focus on what worked for them and what didn’t.

Then, try doing something that is entirely different from what they did. Only keep the elements that seem to work and make the rest be something that is your own unique brand.

But, is being unique the only thing that makes visual identity such an important part of your Re-Branding journey? Here’s some more info about it all:

What is Visual Identity

What is Visual Identity

Visual identity is meant to represent a brand through a unique set of visual elements that set your brand apart from the rest of the competition.

What can these unique visual elements include? Well, they include pretty much every single visual component that makes up a brand.

This can be the logo, colors, or any other visual that would help your or your customer instantly identify the brand.

That’s what visual identity is supposed to represent, the identity of your brand. And, in order to do that, you need to outline how your brand’s style and core values can be represented through a visual medium.

You need to also be both strategic and consistent with the visuals you want to bring forth. That way, you can reinforce not only your brand’s story, but also its identity.

Here’s what you need to focus on in order to have a great visual identity.

And, how exactly can your brand have a strong enough visual identity? Here’s how:

How to Have a Strong Visual Identity

How to Have a Strong Visual Identity

In order for you to have a strong visual identity, you need to first have your elements suit the identity of your brand.

You don’t want to confuse your target audience. You want them to instantly know what you’re offering.

If your colors don’t match your brand, then your customers might feel that something is off and instead choose to move on to the next best thing.

Secondly, you need to be unique, yet simple. Remember, you want to stand out in the competition. That’s not happening if you choose to keep your identity plain and unremarkable.

However, being unique doesn’t always mean that you need to be overly complicated with how you present yourself.

That’s why you always have to keep it simple. Try to put yourself into your audience’s shoes. If you do that, you’ll realize that they want something fresh and unique, but also simple and clever.

That’s also one way to make your visual identity a lot more relatable to your audience. Imagine how great it would be to have a visual identity that is both a good representation of your brand and also connects on a deeper level with your audience.

And, where can customer representation lead to? It leads to them being loyal to you and your brand.

If a customer has a pleasant experience with a brand, then that means that there’s a pretty good chance that they will return.

And, if they do return and continue to have a pleasant experience with you, then that can lead to trust being established between you and your client.

This happens more often than you may think. A strong and defined visual can stick in a lot of your customer’s minds, prompting them to want to return to your business, which will only benefit you.

That’s how you can establish a strong visual identity.
